Easy organization project for January!

Here is the idea I found on Pinterest:

I'm always looking for ways to utilize our space better in our not so well laid out kitchen.  I needed a place for babysitter notes, important #'s and just those random notes you need to have close by but don't want cluttering up the fridge!

Here is how mine turned out.
Just bought corkboard tiles (I got mine at Target but they have them everywhere!) and they actually came with adhesive strips to place on the back.  Could it BE any easier?!

Lack of counterspace, so had to get creative and make our little "command center". Its working out GREAT!

Also changed out my menu board a bit and added a Cleaning Schedule and Grocery List/Notes Clipboard to the side of the fridge.

My "15-20 minutes a Day" Cleaning Schedule, starting tomorrow!

Baking Organization

As I continue in my quest to reach Mommy of the Year, I quickly run out of space in our kitchen for all the gadgets and tools that help me keep my boy's bellies full. It leads to frustration, fits, cooking errors and me declaring the need for a new house with a new kitchen on almost a weekly basis!

THEN....I found some really cute ideas on Pinterest for organizing measuring cups.  While I didn't have the time (YET) to paint the inside of the cabinets all cute or use fancy vinyl labels, I did get them up and functional.  What a great use of unused space and I can already tell the difference in the amount of time I'm saving by not having to dig through drawers/shelves for the right measure.

I used the 3M adhesive hooks directly attached to the inside of the cabinet

While I was at it, I decided to hang up my KitchenAid mixer attachments on the inside wall of my pantry just above my spice rack.  Completely unused space now taken advantage of!  These attachments before were shoved on a shelf and took up WAY too much room and fell out of the cabinet one too many times to count.

Quick, easy organization that makes a LOAD of difference in my crowded kitchen!

Paint Chips Baby Mobile

That title sounds a bit odd, right?! Paint chips...and baby mobile.  Its not paint CHIPS, just paint sample circles...PHEW!

So, I've had my eye on these beautiful mobiles but I just couldn't stomach the price, plus I really wanted to make everything I could for Lincoln's room, instead of buying everything.  Why not tackle yet ANOTHER project!?

So...I found this AWESOME tutorial and just had to share with you!
I didn't take any pictures while I was doing this (totally spaced) but I did take a couple after shots and they are below.  I didn't use a wooden knitting/crosstitch ring, instead I bought a very thin dowel rod and cut it in 2.  Then criss-crossed them and tied with twine for the rustic look to go with Lincoln's room theme.

Used quite a few different greens

Took this from Lincoln's point of view :)

Dresser DressUP

I wanted to do similar to THIS  Ikea Hack, but those Ikea spice racks were too long for my not so deep antique dresser.  Big Brother moved to the BIG room and took the BIG bookcase with them full of books.  I was not going to duplicate books and get little brother another big bookcase, but still needed a little space for the small baby board books....so here is what I did.

I'm calling this Dresser DressUP!  I've had a great antique dresser that just kept getting re-painted and shoved in closets.  Not quite the attention it deserved!  So 1 dresser, 1 spice rack, and a handy husband and this project was a GO!!
Here is the old beauty in the before stage (minus a couple drawers/knobs)

************************************************
We decided to divide the spice rack so that we'd have 3 separate "shelves"

***************************************************
Next we had to paint the shelves and the dresser

******************************************
And attach the knobs

I got clearance lettered knobs from HOBBY LOBBY for $1.49each.  His name is only 7 letters so we had to do 3 plain white knobs. His name is in the shape of an "L" on the dresser..my hub's great idea

And attach the shelves

And the finished project!

I'm so very excited to have a special place for Lincoln's books.  It's right next to the rocker for some good light reading for the little guy and we didn't have to add a piece of big furniture to pull it off.
